In collaboration with Humber Museums Partnership, we have been developing approaches for thinking about how young children experience museum spaces.
Abi Hackett and Lisa Procter developed a framework called the APSE framework in 2016. APSE stands for Abstract, Physical, Social and Embodied; four different ways for thinking about the experience of place. You can download the APSE framework here, and read more about how we developed it here.
Humber Museums Partnership piloted the APSE framework during 2016. You can read more about the findings of the pilot here, and read Humber Museums blog about practical ways they have implemented insights from the APSE framework here.
